What Superfoods Do We Need?
We live in an age where we have more choices than ever before in terms of how we can feed ourselves and what we can put into our bodies. Have you ever found yourself walking into a health food store looking for something to give you a bit of a boost, only to have your mind boggled by the vast array of strangely appealing yet somewhat unpronounceable 'superfoods' that have found their way from exotic locations into our morning smoothies?
As little as 15 years ago for example, very few Westerners would have known about the highly nutritious, antioxidant-packed acai (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) berry that grows in the tops of a palm found in the Amazon and has been adored by macaws and indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin for thousands of years. Today, you'll find this exotic berry powdered, encapsulated, pulped and frozen as a staple item in any health food store. While it's nothing new or unusual to those who are 'up with the play', some might consider this a strange thing to grace their food repertoire. But isn't the new and unusual what the Aquarian Age is all about?
Ask someone 50 years ago if you could have a raw coconut yoghurt mango parfait with sprouted chia seeds and hemp flakes and you may well have been met with a blank stare and shown the door. Times have changed and we are in the Aquarian Age where old structures are being broken down to make way for the new and innovative. We are no longer limited to meat and three veg (though there's nothing 'wrong' with that); we are living in an age where honouring the old ways, while being open to and embracing the new, is the key to our survival.
Each one of us is a unique individual that requires different fuel to keep ourselves vital and well. What fuels us and keeps us sated one day may be quite different to what we need the next. Being adaptable to the changing requirements of our body, mind, emotions and spirit on a daily basis is essential if we are to experience harmony within our being. If we become too fixed about what we put into our bodies, or insist that everyone else should be eating or doing what we are doing, we run the risk of becoming rigid and even evangelical, to the point where others may avoid us. Or we can isolate ourselves with all the limitations we put on what we 'should' and 'shouldn’t' eat or do.
To help us to be well beyond just eating a balanced diet that's appropriate for our unique needs and taking care of our physical organism, we can work with First Light® flower essences. Being vibrational remedies, First Light® flower essences are the ideal 'superfoods' for our personality, soul and spirit in the Aquarian Age.
Working with the following First Light® flower essences can help us to embrace change, be more adaptable and open to experiencing new things and to learn to hear and follow our own inner promptings, which honours our own and others’ uniqueness.
- Flowers of Transformation Essence No 31 Native Iris is the Individuality Essence that enhances the positive expression of, and helps us to honour, our uniqueness. No 31 Native Iris is the essence that helps us to stand up for our ideas while giving others the right to their own opinions. Remember- not everyone may be as keen on dehydrated broccoli florets as you are! Working with No 31 Native Iris, we can find creative ways to be a non-conformist without being unnecessarily provocative, rebellious or righteous.
- Life Enhancement Essence No 67 Red Rata is the Guidance Essence. No 67 Red Rata assists us at a soul level to move beyond outdated belief systems and limiting conditioned perspectives. With No 67 Red Rata at our side, we can make up our own minds about what we need and connect with our wise inner teacher. This is a great essence for those who feel that they can't be themselves and must conform in order to gain familial or social approval e.g. a teenager who wishes to become vegetarian in a house of meat eaters but is made to feel like an outcast at the dinner table.
- Life Enhancement Essence No 68 Puriri is the Discernment Essence and is an excellent plant ally that works at a soul level to assist us in making appropriate choices by enhancing our relationship with ourselves. No 68 Puriri can help us to cut through the confusion and all the 'shoulds' and 'supposed tos' when it comes to what and how to feed and nourish our body, mind, emotions and spirit, so we can better meet our individual needs. With so much information available, and so many trends and fads, it can be confusing if we let ourselves be swayed by the latest fashion.
Take a deep breath, turn your attention inwards and ask yourself “What is it my body is telling me it needs to be nourished today?”
Add 3 drops of each essence from the stock bottle to a glass of water and sip as required. Alternatively, add 3 drops of each essence to a 25ml treatment bottle and take as a part of an ongoing maintenance programme. Essences can also be added to a mister bottle filled with pure water and spritzed through the aura and around the home or office to enhance the energy of the space.
