Plant Profile: No 21 Hinau

Elaeocarpus dentatus

Hinau Deva’s Blessing

I bring the gift of sacred space. Through me you experience the power of containing your emotions; and receive the jewel of emotional maturity.

No 21 Hinau is the essence of the mediator, helping us to keep a balance between being an active participant out in the world and the ability to go within and find our own sacred space. This sacred space is where we get to know and love our true selves.

Hinau helps to bring inner certainty, a sense of personal completeness and the ability to maintain our own sacred boundaries.

In the positive Hinau state, we are loyal and trustworthy in love and may form sound relationships with others in all age groups, knowing that the relationship with the inner self is well grounded.

Hinau is also a diplomat and superb negotiator, able to see both sides of an argument and make a fair decision.

If there is a lack of awareness of our own sacred space, it can lead to imbalances in all relationships and there can be a tendency to close down emotionally, retreat into a negative depressed state or to stay trapped in old outworn relationships for fear of being on one’s own.

Indications for the need to work with Hinau include:

  • Taking on burdensome relationships
  • Being easily led astray by others’ opinions
  • Depression, despondency or fear about being on one’s own
  • Feeling emotionally cold, isolated and lonely
  • Doubting one’s own judgement
  • The call to step into the role of peacemaker or negotiator

Working with Hinau essence allows us to come home to the self at quiet times, to the sanctuary and pure joy of our own sacred space.
