Maintaining Stability Through the Ups, Downs and Chaos!
It is not a matter of if, but when a personal event will appear in our family lives as the stressors of 21st living present themselves. These challenges and hurdles we are presented with can bring valuable learning for us, however if given the opportunity they may present much instability to the family unit. This may express in a variety of ways. I often observe this as emotional changes as children respond to life’s challenges.
Life’s ups and downs can easily result in chaos if the participants are not given adequate support to move beyond the trauma presenting itself. It may be a loss/change of work commitments, separation of parents, an accident resulting in injury to a family member or even a natural disaster.
To maintain stability and routine and to create a home strong enough to ride through the ups and downs we can look to our essences for support. A very powerful ally in these times is No 44 Kahikatea. Kahikatea belongs to the tree family and supports our base chakra and experiences of our physical world. This tree assists children to maintain and sustain the routines and stability required to ride out any chaos which may present itself.
In a world of change children seek security in their relationship with life. Kahikatea deeply roots them to the earth just as the tree itself is deeply rooted. It is interesting to see the similarity in the words root and routine. Routines provide the known to children; the safe and secure place from which change in their world can be observed. At times of change, the seed essence No 51 Broadleaf can be valuable to release their fears and patterns associated with the physical changes occurring in their world.
No 72 Shining Spleenwort will support the child’s soul to positively ride the ups and downs, staying attuned to the natural rhythms and cycles of life as circumstances are presented. No 5 Native Passionfruit, of the flowers family, will support children if stress or anxiety is observed around security and physical world issues.
Parenting and mothering through these times can be challenging. Meeting one’s own needs is big enough, and to uphold children’s needs can often be a stretch. The flower essences provide us with a direct link to call in the assistance of who my daughter calls her ‘other mother’, the one who is always there when mum can’t be - mother earth. Utilising essences in these times taps into an infinite source of support and mother energy to maintain and sustain balance. The healer essence No 85 Black Mamaku will assist the link the child has to this infinite source.
As Franchelle reminds us ‘In nature nothing exists in isolation. Everything is connected to everything else in vital sacred living relationship with the spiritual forces of the land.” To assist our children’s total wellbeing is to support our own total wellbeing.
